Genetic Parameters of Various Backfat Measurements of the Hungarian Large White Pig evaluated Within and Across Sexes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Genetic parameters for various backfat measurements (BF1FT, Backfat shoulder measured at the field test; BF2FT, Backfat mid-back measured at the field test; BF3FT, Backfat loin measured at the field test; BF1ST, Backfat shoulder measured at the station test; BF2ST, Backfat mid-back measured at the station test; BF3ST, Backfat loin measured at the station test) were estimated. The analysis was based on the national database of the field and station tests, using various types of animal models in Hungarian Large White (LW), breed between May 1996 and February 2001 within and across sexes (females, males, castrates). Heritability for BFFT traits ranged between 0.150.35, but higher estimates were observed in field traits (0.41-0.75). Genetic correlations were generally positive among all fat depth measurements but station traits showed stronger genetic correlations (0.76-0.88) than field traits (0.24-0.67).The genetic correlation estimates between field and station traits ranged between 0.09-0.40.

Detection of novel SNPs and mapping of the fatness QTL on pig chromosome 7q1.1-1.4 region.
Many QTLs for fatness traits have been mapped on pig chromosome 7q1.1-1.4 in various pig resource populations. Eight novel markers, including seven SNPs and one insertion or deletion within BTNL1, COL21A1, PPARD, GLP1R, MDFI, GNMT, ABCC10, and PLA2G7 genes, as well as two previously reported SNPs in SLC39A7 and HMGA1 genes, were genotyped in Large White and Meishan pig breeds. Except for two ...

The study was conducted in five selected districts in Bale zone South East, Ethiopia to evaluate the morphometric difference among indigenous chicken populations. Simple random sampling method was used to select 400 households who owned indigenous chicken population. From these households, a total of 840 adult (more than 6 months of age) indigenous chickens (225 males and 615 females) were used...

Knowledge of genetic diversity and relationships between genotypes is mainly important for selection of parental genotypes. Moreover, assessing diversity across and within crop varieties is important to improve the description of collections in gene banks and in on-farm conservation practices. In order to evaluation and study of genetic diversity in the bean in normal condition, forty-five bean...
متن کاملEstimation of genetic trends in French Large White pigs from 1977 to 1998 for growth and carcass traits using frozen semen.
Genetic trends for growth, feed efficiency, composition, and morphometry of carcasses were estimated in a French Large White (LW) pig population using frozen semen. Two groups of pigs were produced by inseminating LW sows with either stored, frozen semen from 17 LW boars born in 1977 or with semen from 23 LW boars born in 1998. In each group, 15 males and 90 females were randomly chosen and mat...
متن کاملQuantitative measurements for entrance and exit radiation dose confirmation for cancer patients: An analysis of large cohort of patients
Background: The success of radiation therapy depends on accurate dose delivery to the target. Diode in vivo measurement of entrance and exit dose is a valuable quality assurance (QA) tool to ensure accurate dose delivery. Materials and Methods: This study was performed at BINO Cancer Hospital, Bahawalpur. Entrance and exit dose measurements were done with p-type diode for various types of canc...
